The Gift Prabhupada Project is an initiative undertaken by a group of devotees to gift a miniature (54 mm) brass murti of Srila Prabhupada, particularly to his direct disciples. Alloyed within the brass murti are coins donated for Srila Prabhupada’s books from each of the 25 countries he personally visited, symbolizing the global impact of his teachings.
The box enclosing the murti features a backdrop that includes fragments from the original jackfruit tree under which Srila Prabhupada was born in 1896. Designed by a 3D artist from the Temple of the Vedic Planetarium, each aspect of the murti’s design has been thoughtfully incorporated to enrich the connection between Srila Prabhupada and his disciples.
The primary goal of The Gift Prabhupada Project is to touch the lives of Srila Prabhupada’s disciples, offering each of them the murti of their beloved guru. For these disciples, who have devoted their lives to service, a murti of Srila Prabhupada symbolizes far more than an ornament. It serves as a spiritual connection, reminding them daily of the teachings, guidance, and love they have received over the years. As these disciples approach their later years, the project brings them the joy of meeting their spiritual master once more — now in the form of a lifelike murti that deepens their meditation on Srila Prabhupada.
Beyond offering Srila Prabhupada’s disciples a personal connection to their spiritual master, the project serves as an enduring reminder for new generations of ISKCON devotees. It highlights the invaluable role these disciples play as direct recipients of Srila Prabhupada’s mercy and as instruments through which his presence continues to shine. The Gift Prabhupada Project reveres these devotees as pillars of the ISKCON community, reminding younger members of their immense debt to those who carry Srila Prabhupada’s legacy forward.
Over 400 murtis have been gifted to disciples in several ISKCON locations, including Alachua, London, Vrindavan, Mayapur, and Govardhan. The project marked a significant milestone on November 13, when 15 devotees of Srila Prabhupada were invited to the Lotus Building Conference Hall at Mayapur to receive their Srila Prabhupada murtis with joy.
“I always wanted to have a small murti of Srila Prabhupada which I could carry when I travel. I have seen many murtis of Srila Prabhupada, but I have never been satisfied. I was mesmerized seeing the features of this murti. I feel fortunate and satisfied that I can have this small murti with me wherever I go,” said Sattvika Das after receiving the murti of Srila Prabhupada in Mayapur.
Srila Prabhupada once said that the murti of the spiritual master should be “treated as good as the Deity.” Guided by this principle, The Gift Prabhupada Project is an offering that reminds Srila Prabhupada’s disciples and devotees worldwide of his enduring presence.
How you can participate
The project warmly encourages every devotee to take part in this service. Devotees can support the initiative by acquiring a murti for their personal meditation. By doing so, they automatically sponsor a murti for one of Srila Prabhupada’s disciples, allowing their spiritual master’s presence to be celebrated anew in yet another life. This collective effort unites devotees worldwide with a shared purpose of honoring the bond between Srila Prabhupada and his disciples, creating a chain of generosity that spans continents and generations.
This is not just a gift — it is a living legacy of devotion, a reminder of the precious bond between the spiritual master and the disciple, and a call to honor and cherish the presence of Srila Prabhupada and his disciples in the heart of the ISKCON community.
