Cyber Space — Imagine a dinner party where ISKCON founder-acarya Srila Prabhupada, Jesus Christ, Leonardo Da Vinci, and pop sensation Justin Timberlake break bread together. While we’re not certain what the dinner-table conversations would be like, one thing we can be reasonably sure of: the menu, would be 100% vegetarian.
These personalities are among a long list — over 800 at last count — of the "VIPS of vegetarianism" featured on this website. An ISKCON News reader alerted us to the site and — while we know little about who compiled the list or for what reason — we were happy to see that it included Lord Caitanya, Srila Prabhupada, and ISKCON devotee Satyaraja Dasa (Steven Rosen). The list also noted several other leading spiritual figures, intellectual giants, and pop culture icons.
Of course, one of the challenges inherent in cataloging celebrity eating habits is that they are awfully hard to verify. We hope that ISKCON News readers will keep that in mind and take the list with a grain of (vegetarian) salt.
Oh, and as for that question on everyone’s mind — is Justin Timberlake really a vegetarian? — our editorial team can only guess. None of us could bring ourselves to run a Google search involving the words "Justin Timberlake"… although ISKCON News staff member Vyenkata Bhatta Dasa admits that for a very brief period in the late 1990s, he found an n*sync song "kind of catchy."
