We look forward to collaborating with you on a story that may inspire or inform our global ISKCON community.
Your submitted stories should be between 400-900 words in length and made up of short paragraphs. The first (lede) paragraph should ideally summarize your story, answering some basic questions (who, what, where, when, why, how?). The remaining paragraphs can then detail the event, devotee profile, book review, etc. As a rule, they should not include your opinions or first-person narratives. Please include a suggested headline (50 characters or less) and the author. When referencing or quoting a devotee, avoid using honorific nomenclature (HG or HH) or terms like Prabhu, Mataji or Maharaja. For example, Kalakantha Das not Kalakantha Prabhu (Das or Dasi should always be capitalized). Subsequent references can just use the shortened form of their name, e.g., “Kalakantha added.”
An opinion piece should be between 500-1,000 words. Here, you can express your opinion and write from the first-person point of view. However, bear in mind that these articles must still be grounded in facts.
Your submission should be sent to editor@iskcon.org as a Google document with full editing privileges or as a Word document (please do not send as a .pdf). Ideally, photos/images should be placed in a separate Google folder which is shared as a link to editor@iskcon.org. If not, include the photos as attachments as an email. Please include captions for each photo/image by naming the image with the caption language you’d like, e.g., SankirtanDasdistributesprasadam.jpg. All photos should be in a .jpg format (not .jfif, heic, etc.). Please identify one photo to be the feature/main photo. It must be horizontal/landscape in orientation.
Always supply links at the end of the article where devotees can follow the ongoing service of the temple, organization, outreach or individual. These would include website, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, etc. Please supply full url not simple the “handle.”
If possible, please use an online or in-app grammar checker before submitting your content to ISKCON News. If you don’t feel qualified to write the article, please contact us at editor@iskcon.org, and we can discuss the possibility of assigning an ISKCON News Staff Writer to help you.
