After five months of intense traveling throughout North America to solicit support for the Mayapur Temple of the Vedic Planetarium (TOVP), the dedicated team of Jananivas Das, Sunanda Das, and Braja Vilas Das arrived last week on the Canadian West Coast, the final leg of their journey.

While in Vancouver, they also drove four hours to visit the interior community of Saranagati Village. In addition to their desire to visit the community, they also made the long journey to present the community with not one but two checks for the Saranagati Fire Relief Fund.

The Saranagati Community in Venables Valley is still trying to recover from the devastating “Shetland Creek Wildfire” that ravaged it over the summer. In a very significant gesture of support, the checks, one from the TOVP and another from ISKCON Toronto were for ten thousand dollars each.

Most of the community, including the school students and faculty, were present to greet their special guests.

After showing a special video of the opening ceremony of Mayapur’s Lord Nrisimhadava temple wing of the TOVP and honoring prasadam, the guests were given a tour of the fire-afflicted homes and infrastructure throughout the valley. Following the short visit and making lots of new friends, the TOVP team departed for another four-hour trip back to Vancouver.

The next Sunday, the final TOVP presentation took place at ISKCON Burnaby’s Hare Krishna Temple, completing their five-month North American tour.
